Annapurna Circuit to Jomsom
Trekking from Lowland Villages to Mountainous Regions of the
Annapurna Himal, with Non-Technical Hike Over Thorung La (17,599 ft.) to the village of Jomsom

4 Nights in Kathmandu
14 Days Teahouse Trekking

NEPAL

If you're interested in visiting one of the most magnificent places on earth, then join The Adventurous Trekker to the Annapurna region of Nepal. The geological and cultural diversity of this trek is what makes it a once in a lifetime experience.

This trip circumnavigates three quarters of the Annapurna Himal, so you'll be witness to views of these giants that can't be seen from anywhere else. Your adventure will expose you to everything from lush bamboo forests to arid high mountain landscapes. You'll experience a non-technical climb over the famous Thorung La (17,599 ft.), the highest pass visited by most travelers in all of Nepal. During the hike over Thorung La, you'll be rewarded with spectacular blazes of orange as the sun rises, casting the white Himalayan peaks in a fiery glow.

After crossing over the Thorung La, we'll descend to the village of Muktinath, which has been attracting both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims for centuries. Located in Muktinath is the Jwala Mai Temple, were a flame of natural gas burns from a trickle of water. Many Hindus believe that Brahma offered this miracle to the gods himself. You'll get to explore other interesting temples in Muktinath before we descend into the world's deepest valley: Kali Gandaki. At one point, we'll be 3-1/2 miles below the summits of the Annapurna peaks alongside us. The austere beauty of this arid landscape in the shadow of Dhaulagiri (26,794 ft.) and Annapurna 1 (26,545 ft.) will give you the feeling that living giants are watching your progress.

Once we reach the village of Jomsom, which is also the capital of the Mustang District, we are finished with our adventure and will take a morning flight to Pokhara, then onto Kathmandu. You'll have an extra day in Kathmandu for shopping and relaxing.

The next morning will be your departure for home, and our staff will make sure you understand all the immigration procedures before they escort you to the airport.

And that's only the short version of what we'll see and explore, since many other villages and monasteries are situated along the way.

So don't miss out on this life inspiring adventure.

Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous
Hours spent hiking each day: 6 - 7, with one extra long day going over Thorung La. This trek is for anyone with an excellent level of fitness and is not restricted to any certain age group. The rating is strenuous due to the crossing of Thorung La, but this isn't a mountaineering climb and no special skills or equipment are needed.

Note: If you like this trek but would want a longer version (21 days) please give us a call at 603/374-2438 or e-mail becky@adventuroustrekker.com.

WHY YOU SHOULD TREK THE ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT WITH THE ADVENTUROUS TREKKER:

01) We pay our staff fair wages (almost always higher than our competitors), and make sure they have appropriate clothing for the area we're traveling to. We adhere to the pay scale and treatment rules outlined by the nonprofit watchdog group Porters Progress.

02) Each group is equipped with a state-of-the-art water purifier, instead of taking the chance with boiled water.

03) Our pricing is inclusive, that means you pay one price which includes virtually everything (for exceptions, see the "What isn't Included" list in the left column.

04) We can arrange discounted international airfare, at no extra charge.

05) The right staff can make all the difference in your trek. Our staff is incredibly dedicated, most of them have been working with us for six to eight years. All of our Nepalese guides are highly trained to understand western standards and needs. They have all been trained and certified as professional guides by the Nepalese Government.

06) Safety is our first concern. That is why we keep our group sizes small, so no one who may not be feeling their best gets overlooked. We always bring enough staff to assure that if you're not feeling well, you'll be assigned a highly trained person to stay with you and attend to your needs. We never leave our members alone during a trek. If at any time you don't feel up to continuing with the group, you'll be kept comfortable and safe by your assigned staffmember, and either catch up when you can or we'll try to meet you on the return trip. You will never be left alone and unattended on an Adventurous Trekker trek.
